Can the rivets on a John Boat be patched when leaking?
I have an older Johnboat for fishing. I haven't tested how the water in getting in but suspect it's coming in around the rivets.
Is there a sealer or patch or will I need to frill them out and replace them.

I am planning on building a flat-bottom boat about 12ft.max. (http://www.vintageprojects.com/boats/jon-boat.pdf) to use on a private pond.
I wanted to know what I can use to paint, cover or seal the wood that is economical, easy to use and purchase.
And does anyone recommend this boat?
